PCN Glasgow City Council help please

I parked in a residential street to work at Hampden stadium for a concert, when I parked I did not see any signs notifying of any restrictions but did see the signs when I returned to my car. I checked my vehicle for signs of a ticket and there was nothing there so I thought it must be fine and drove off.

Fast forward a month or so later and a letter came through the door informing me that I was now due the full amount of the parking ticket I was not aware that I had received. I naturally disputed the PCN, firstly because I was unaware there were restrictions when I parked, secondly because there was no ticket when I arrived at my car and thirdly because I had parked there two or three times in the weeks previous for the same reasons and same timings (again there was no parking restriction signs on those dates either, leading me to believe there were no restrictions).

For what I earned on each occasion it would not be worth risking a parking ticket as it would essentially mean I had worked 8 hours for free. The fact that either man or nature had removed the ticket meant that I did not have the opportunity to pay the reduced amount, I can't say if I would have or not as I still didn't think I deserved one but may have took the hit so the fee didn't go up.

I disputed the ticket and have received an email today telling me I was unsuccessful but I can go ahead and appeal to the independent adjudicator. The notice also states that the street I parked in is restricted when there are major events on at Hampden but this was not the case in the previous weeks, I can't prove this but I was parked there at least twice during massive gigs, there were no signs displayed and I did not receive any fines for the previous times.

Should I cut my losses and pay the charge or carry on to the independent adjudicator and if so, then are there any hints or tips on how to word it or what to say to help my cause? All and any advice welcome.

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a Hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway Gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering, and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own, to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate), as they need to see all the small print.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
