Breakdown Cover recommendations
My breakdown cover (Start Rescue) is up for renewal next month and whilst it's been pretty the past 2 years it's gone from £25 per year to £40* for vehicle cover, nationwide recovery and home start. Can anyone recommend anything better?
*discounted price, normally £47.

This might be a good starting point: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/breakdown-cover/But, to be honest, £40 is really pretty good for the level of cover you've described, you might struggle to beat that for equivalent cover.I use Autoaid - slightly more expensive that what you've quoted, but good value if you need a husband & wife (or husband and husband, wife and wife, let's be politically correct!!) to be covered in any car.

Thanks for the link. Looks like Rescuemycar is a fair bit cheaper.0

I've just used £32.50 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers to buy 1 year of RAC ultimate cover priced at £97.50.
Basically free as far as I'm concerned because I've not used "real money" but either way I think that is really hard to beat value-wise, the cover level is exceptional, things like £500 travel allowance, unlimited tow to anywhere in the UK etc.
In the last 2 years, I've needed 5 call-outs, 3 fixed at Roadside, 1 towed 20 miles to the garage of my choice and the taxi fare home from the garage was covered by the policy. On the 5th call out was towed to an approved garage and booked in by the RAC, also had a hire car for 7 days whilst waiting for mine to be repaired at no extra cost from the RAC.
Each call-out was between 20-30 mins for the patrol to arrive which I was particularly thankful for when stuck on the hard shoulder on a cold wet February morning.
BTW those 5 call-outs in the last 2 years were exceptional, I've only used a breakdown service twice in the previous 20 odd years of motoring.

I'm also on the lookout for breakdown cover as my policy with Start Rescue is up for renewal. My renewal is £59.12 for 3 star cover (roadside, national, home start, accident recovery, onward travel, etc.), but as a new customer with the MSE link, I can get the same cover for £54.61.
Via TopCashback, I can get roadside, national, and home start cover with the AA and RAC:- AA vehicle cover: £99 - £46 = £53
- RAC personal cover: £87 - £37 = £50

Avoid RAC!!Work van broke down last month and they said it would take 5 hours to get to us. We were in a big town, not the back end of nowhere. And a friend broke down last year, woman alone on motorway hard shoulder, after waiting 6 hours for the RAC she made her own arrangements. This is in Cumbria/south Scotland… Maybe they’re better elsewhere.
I’ve been with Green Flag for about 15 years and had a few call outs in that time - they’ve always been quick (though not called out for a few years now).0 -
Had all power go from my car due to improperly seated battery connector. Called RAC was told 4/5 hours, told them we had young child (it was 11pm) they were with us 25 mins later. This was in short stay car park at Heathrow.1
