Gumtree - Is it still available !!!!

Over the last few months I have sold a couple of dozen items on Gumtree.

I take the trouble to photograph the item well, write an accurate description and price it attractively. Almost everything has sold, some quicker than others.

Why oh why is it that anything that doesn't sell almost immediately attracts "enquiries" saying simply "Hi, is this still available"? Just those words, almost always sent late evening. Different name every time.

I reply politely saying that it is and asking if they would like to arrange to come and have a look. Never once do I hear from them again!

Is this some scam that I'm not aware of or just people being "funny" on their way home from the pub?

I'm fairly certain that "Hi, is this still available?" is the pre-populated text in the message field when you look at an advert on Gumtree with your mobile.

Ah thanks, maybe that explains it. I always access Gumtree from my computer so don't see that......
