Has anyone gone back to using a timer on the electric immersion heater for cheaper hot water rather

    Yes. I run my immersion heater for 2 hours over night (heating a 180L tank in the loft). Over night EV rate electricity is 7.5p - total used on a 2 hour timer is between 3 and 4 kw. (Depending on how much water we used the day before).

    Now my boiler flow rate can be set to 55c for the UFH alone, without needing it higher just for the tank.

    Looks like I'll stick to gas it's the all I ever is is power prices are going up because we can't get Russian gas so naturally assume gas is going to be the expensive thing apparently not

    Get the family all taking shorter showers and ditch baths except as a special treat.

    Try cutting down the amount of time the tank is being heated bit by bit. Only 2 of us but we've got down from  90 minutes a day to 40. Knock it down by 15 minutes a dat until someone complains they got a cold shower, then you know you went too far.

    Can always boil a kettle to wash up or fill a mop bucket.
