Electricity substation lease expired - but its still there

The lease on the substation in my garden expired two months ago and whilst they have been very helpful and co-operative, I am still waiting for it to be removed. Do I have any legal rights to help move things along? They have had literally years of warning that we do not to renew and they say that they have source and alternative location.

You certainly can't move it yourself so you are pretty much stuck with their timescales to move it. I very much doubt the threat of legal action will make them act any more quickly.

Look at it this way. If they take it out. You & everyone around you could end up with no power... How would you feel?Life in the slow lane0

Have you had any professional advice so far? As well as normal landlord and tenant considerations, the utilities have statutory powers which will enable them to dig their feet in to some extent. Obviously you can't force them to cut everyone off.1

Thanks for your responses - I guess I was looking for some advice on the legal position as I dont think it right or fair for companies - especially large ones to behave unprofessionally just because they can. The arrangements for an alternative site and the equipment are all in place but the message from most of you seems to be live with the delay. In the meantime any information on the legal side would be much appreciated.

Is there anything specified within the lease agreement that covers decommissioning timescales on expiry? What dispute resolution clauses are there?0

At the end of the day it's something that you've lived with for years, so another few months or years isn't really going to have any effect on you. Or you can blow hundreds or thousands of pounds getting litigious. Your choice.2 -
Fair enough - get legal advice and not from here! Thanks to all and no need for any further comments

It is a legal matter, but we can't see and therefore don't know the details of your lease, so couldn't advise anyway.0
