  • I've given most of that stuff away to friends but like I said - I have the big things.

Anyway - they don't give the Surestart grant if you don't need it. I applied but was told that I earnt too much (joint income of £14k at the time) so she must be earning a lot less than that.

Current balance: approx £17500 including Tax Credit Overpayment

Estimated DFD: never - deficit budget. Cheers HMRC!

  • I got one for £100 under the old system 11 years ago and we were earning well over £20,000 after tax.

I've just been unlucky with benefits I think!

Totally agree. Look at my updated sig! Only remembered yesterday that I am still liable for the joint 'overpayment' even though my ex is paying (or so he says). Considering that he has dropped my money for DD I doubt very much he is paying that and am expecting a letter from them any day.

I've kept them updated all year about my changes in salary/childcare and the payments have decreased accordingly but I would bet anything that they are going to drop off a cliff in April. My surplus at the moment is only £130 and I have 7 creditors to pay. If my Tax Credits drop more than £95 (only £22 a week so more than likely), I won't even be able to afford minimum payments through a DMP.

It's with this in mind that I am considering BR. My surplus is tenuous (sp?) as it is as it is only there cos of the child support.
