Does OFGEM need to go ?

Anyway back to the original question keyboard warriors, DOES OFGEM NEED TO GO, thank you to those sticking with the question as I am £2000+ better off staying on SVT0

For what reason do you think OFGEM "NEED TO GO"?
Explain what you think they have done wrong, and then we might be able to answer you.
So far it seems you are claiming some sort of inside information about the possible price cap - it's not inside information at all, everyone can find out how the maths will work and people have talked about the likely numbers for months.
Or is it because a supplier has put up their fixed tariff offer? No problem, just don't fix.1 -
I'm somewhat puzzled about what point you're trying to make... (and for that reason, why you also replied to your own post)DavidD1955 said:
Well I took his advice and stayed variable since my fix ended before March, maybe you should listen to good advice next time.artyboy said:
No, he gave an indicative percentage difference where, based on forecasts, it suggested it either was or wasn't worth fixing... and every time I ever watched him, there were loads of caveats about 'best guess only'DavidD1955 said:He told us to remain with supplier and not fix, so where is the bad advice
The problem here is people thinking he's some sort of messianic font of all knowledge. Use the information he provides sure, but only to make your own decision. And damn well own that decision rather than playing the blame card that is so popular these days.
Because I'm perfectly happy with the decision I made - fixed until November next year. Based on information, advice I got from various sources. But ultimately it was MY decision. It's not like I paid for any advice that I could blame anyone else for if it want wrong...

I followed his advice - having done my own calculations using his predictions - for quite some time, and paid less than I would have done had I fixed at that stage. He then revised that advice as more information became available, making a suggestion of a “level” below which it was worth fixing at, and I followed that advice too - more calculations. I found a fix and took it (thanks for the guidance Martin, and to posters on here for highlighting the fix in question ) and will now pay less through the winter than I would have done had I stayed on SVR.The_Green_Hornet said:
No he isn't a dictator but he is wheeled out by a compliant media every chance they get as being some sort of expert and unfortunately too many people do take his advice..[Deleted User] said:ML isn't some sort of dictator, who mind-controls you into taking a fix or not.
He made some predictions. Other people made some other predictions. You choose what you believe and act accordingly.
I dallied, and missed out on the fix I wanted, but that wasn't because ML told me to.Perhaps some people read Martin’s original advice to stay put and not fix, then resolutely stuck their fingers in their ears and said “Lalala” a lot so as to ensure they didn’t hear any subsequent updates, in order to be able to blame Martin for their own lack of initiative down the line?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

No Ofgem doesn't need to go. It's thanks to Ofgem and their capped SVT that you are saving those £2000.
