Eon smart meter installation problem

Hi

Eon Next came to fit a smart meter at my house a few weeks ago. The installation was fine but the smart bit of the meter could not be turned on as the gas meter was showing that I was still being supplied gas by a different company (I only pay Eon)

The installer told me it would be sorted out in a couple of weeks and then they would come back and activate the meter fully. Unfortunately nothing has happened and Eon have not yet responded to me, except with a text to say that they are waiting for information to be registered with the Data Communications Company.  This is very frustrating as I may want to switch providers soon and probably can't until the meter is properly working

Does anyone have experience of this situation and how long it took to sort out?

    Have you checked who is listed as your supplier?

    Thanks for that, just done it and it says Eon Next as it should be

    The answer from Eon regarding the DCC refers to registering your new smart meter, and not to the query who is your suupplier.

    Thanks again. The full text says they are unable to rebook to finish the installation because they are waiting for the DCC, which still doesn't completely make sense. I will follow up to ask what is going on

    Hi,
    shouldn't affect your switch, as long as meter is still recording and can be read manually.
    Even if meters are working as they should be you would probably find that they may not work with new provider in smart mode.
