Failed switch - lost out on fixed rate

Some advice please. In March 2022 I was lucky to have locked in a switch from EDF to a 2 year fixed rate with E.ON. In June I realised that the switch failed and I was being billed by both EDF & EON. EON have agreed that the failure to switch was their fault, due to entering an incorrect meter number, but that it will take time to resolve and don't expect the switch to happen before the end of September. Therefore I will have to pay the increase variable rate with EDF, until they can resolve the issue and switch me.
My question is whether EON have an obligation to make me whole by reimbursing me the difference in the variable rate I have to pay EDF and the lower fix rate I should be on with EON. Thank you in advance

It would not be unreasonable to expect them to honour the tariff you signed up to and reimburse you for any additional costs you incurred due to the delayed switch. If they are resistant, make a formal complaint and, if necessary, subsequently escalate it to the ombudsman.0

Obligation? Likely not.
Might they do it anyway as "goodwill" (which roughly translates as "we know it's our fault but we don't want to admit it again")? Perhaps, especially if you complain and have good evidence.0 -
If, when do move, you are on the two year fix from that date I'd be happy because what you overpay now will most likely be offset by what you save at the end of the fix as prices are going up.
If they shorten the fix I'd complain.0
