Government support grants

The £400 energy grant does offer some welcome support but it does seem a little unfair that those people who own 2 or more homes will get the grant for each home they own. I mean, you can’t boil a kettle in two different homes simultaneously!! I wonder if MPs who have homes in their constituencies and accommodation in London also will benefit similarly.

But you will be paying standing charges on both properties, so that'll be about £300 extra they'll be paying than everyone else.

However those people also pay two lots of Council Tax, but I bet they don't have their bins emptied a both houses every week, or don't put the same pressures on the local road network, social services etc.

They would because they have two energy bills, hardly suprising, I also doubt it changed the way any MP would vote.

I would imagine that the bureaucratic cost of means testing the grant outweighed any savings that they would have made by restricting people with more than one house from receiving multiple payments, but then I don't know how many multi-house owners there are in the UK.

I found in an article that the cost for the second homes are £120million. That would be 300000 second and third homes.

And confirmed in a second article
