Heat loss.............Thermal camera

Id like to see where heat is escaping, has anyone any experience of a infra red/thermal camera?

The proper industrial ones are very good - I've used one at work before.  You're best off trying to borrow one, because it'll take a long period to pay back the initial cost.  Anything that needs significantly improving should be pretty obvious without the need for thermal imaging.  A candle flame is pretty good at detecting draughts around doors and windows, and as long as loft or void insulation is visibly even and complete, it's doing its job.

Octopus used to loan one out to their customers. The service got suspended hwen the pandemic kicked in, and I don't know if it has been restarted. Some councils also offer a free loan service, so worth checking to see if your council is one of the enlightened ones.
Cambridgeshire has a charity doing camera loans. I think you have to sign up for a training session before they let you take one away - There may be a fee for the training.. Check to see if there is something similar operating in your area.

Which ever path you go down, be it hiring, borrowing, or buying, these things are best used on a cold day. The colder the better so that the temperature differences show up. Do a survey outside to locate the big heat loss areas, and then inside to identify the smaller cold spots.

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

That is just a colour distortion effect, as far as I am aware the only thermal cameras for iDevices are physical add ons.
