Booked hotel, arrived at the construction site

Hi,

Have booked Travelodge few months back for myself and family in London. Upon checking in we noticed a lot of tools in the corridors, cafe and bar were closed for refurbishment, our room was not ready (7pm) as carpet change was still under way.
During our stay noise and dust were constant across the hotel. Duty manager was on holiday and staff were sympathetic but could not do much. Raised issue with Customer Services and all they can reply was - We are investing in hotel refurbs and apologise. We will give you free breakfast next time you stay with us!

Any advice what else can we do? Hotel advertised as having good facilities and being fairly new (3 years old). We were not told that it would be a construction site.

Thank you

For clarity - you booked and stayed a few months ago or you booked months ago and stayed recently ?

TBH on turning up and finding it like that I'd be suggesting they find me somewhere else to stay before checking in (or at least agreeing a reduction/free breakfast etc for that trip)

Not that much you can do after the event - you rented a bed/room for the night and they gave you one
  • Booked back in June, stayed last week.
They had no alternatives in this area, we asked. We also asked for a duty manager same day, but were told he was out. Next day we were told he was on holiday and gave us his email to raise a complaint. Could not have free or chargeable breakfast as cafe and bar were closed during our stay and opened next day after we left.
  • Follow their formal complaints procedure.

(I don't know what it is but I'm sure they have one and I suspect it's on their website)
