Telephone only?

Hi everyone.  I'm new here so please bear with me....
My 85 yr old mother desperately needs a good old fashioned home phone as she has recently been bereaved and relied purely on my father using his mobile to make calls.  Here lies the problem.... She is now alone in her home, very much unable to use a mobile phone herself and we would like to be able to get a falls alarm in place for her, which relies on a phone line?! I'm just really reaching out for any advice on whether there are still phone only deals out there (she doesn't want broadband and to be fair, she would struggle with technology)?
Amy advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone

BT Home Essentials, if she is in receipt of UC or PC?
Otherwise, it's probably cheaper to get a line rental and broadband bundle and not use the broadband.

No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

BT are turning off the copper phone network over the next couple of years, with all 'lines' being provided over an internet connection and a modem/router with 'phone' sockets on the back, which will not continue to work in a power cut.

Therefore most carephone providers are moving to mobile network based care alarms with battery backup. Your local council social services is often the best place to ask as many provide this service much cheaper than the commercial providers.

If the carephone is the only reason you need a phone line, you may find you don't.

You can also get fixed cellular phones which look like normal phones but use the mobile network, or cellular terminals you can plug a normal landline phone into; some have battery back up

You also may come up against the Openreach "stop sell" policy, where if the local area has already been cabled for full fibre they will not provide any sort of service over the soon to be redundant copper network.

You may have to find a internet provider that also includes a VoIP service.

Have you had a look at DORO phones ?

Or, like us, you may be in an area where OR can't even provide a FTTC service, so, we really haven't a clue what will happen in the future!

Perhaps you could post a link to that please? The only discounted scheme I'm aware of it BT Essentials, which requires you to be in receipt of UC or PC: which was what I already pointed out.
If you are referring to Line Rental Saver, then that also requires you to take a broadband service as well.

Why can she not use a mobile? I'm guessing tiny keys - there are some on the market with big keys and no frills, might help. It's a back-up if nothing else.

There's no pricesmentioned but there's a bit you click on at the following link with a phone number https://www.bt.com/landline/deals/ I believe the line rental is reduced to less than £15, seems the best option if not on the eligible benefits for home essentials
