Household Contents Insurance - can't follow up quotes on Comparison sites

We live in a self-contained apartment (Granny Annex) built as an extension to our daughter's house about 7 years ago. We live rent free.  Buildings Insurance is covered on her insurance but we cover our Contents Insurance. We are unable to find a competitive comparison quote for our Contents Insurance as we do not have own own address registered in UK Postcodes nor do we have own own Council Tax account as it is included in our daughter's Council Tax account. We have had Contents Insurance through a local Insurance Broker but the premium is up twice the cost of comparison quotes. If I follow up links to insurers on comparison sites they will not offer cover as our own accommodation is not listed on postcodes and we don't have a Council Tax account. Has anyone any ideas of who may be able to help please.

Are there internal doors between the annex and the main property?

Any reason why not to simply insure the whole family under a single policy?

    No, completely self-contained.
An option but was trying to keep contents separate.

    Thanks for your interest.

The problem is you probably cannot exclude your/your daughters contents from each other because of how "Home" and "Your" etc is defined in typical policies.

JL for example in the policy book I have to hand say "Home" is The private residence shown in your Policy Schedule including its garages, annexes, outbuildings and garden if they form part of the property.

By not including the total contents for the whole property you risk being under insured.

The alternative is to formally split the properties and get your own unique address etc.
