Automatic cancellation on day 4 for non payers.

I usually wait until day 5 before I cancel a sale for the reason ‘buyer hasn’t paid’ unless I’m very cross and then I will close it as soon as I can after day 4, but I’ve always done this manually. I had a non payer from last Friday and was planning to cancel tomorrow but it was cancelled automatically by eBay dead on the 4th day with no input from me. I got the message along the lines of - this has been cancelled, the buyer has been notified that the sale was cancelled due to non payment, your FVFs will be returned and any feedback for this transaction will be removed.

I haven’t enabled any new settings so am mystified why this is suddenly automatic , I suspect eBay are tinkering with things again.

  • I have always had this on automatic - I've always been of the view that should a buyer not pay within 3 days with no contact, then it's most likely a non paying bidder wasting my time.

This last one was a weird one, dozens and dozens of recent feedback saying things like fast payment, brilliant buyer etc, and yet on my £6 item, no payment. There was one ‘didn’t pay’ comment within the last year surrounded by a hundred or more highly positive comments .

My unpaid cases were never automatic, I always kept a note on when the 4th day was so I could make my own decision as to whether to cancel or hold for another day.

I've had 2 non-payments lying around for over a week waiting for payment that I had to manually cancel last Friday.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
