Are you at cross purposes, as you can get mains powered smoke alarms both with rechargeable batteries and non-rechargeable batteries? The replacement interval would be quite different?

It's conceivable that some mains alarms have batteries that are meant to last the lifespan of the alarm, and are non-replaceable?
