warranty

this isnt so much a vent but really need advice!!

my mum bought me a laptop during the summer- i am now having trouble with my mointor but am confused about my warranty

i have a dell laptop which has a support centre linked in to my laptop- when i click on it for warranty information it says started 17/08/2007- ended 15/11/2007(does this seem really short or is it just me?)

does this mean i am screwed with getting my mointor fixed within warranty?and if so, does anyone know roughly a new mointor will cost?

i have emailed dell this evening- it says they respond within one day but i think they will come back and say , "sorry, you are no longer under warranty!"

any help greatly appreciated

  • cheaper Dells come with a 90 day warranty, if you call them, they should fix it without question (assuming you haven't sat on it/dropped it). What is the fault?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • there is a blue horizontal line going down the middle of the screen, then every so often. then every so often, i cant view half the screen - it is all black, if i touch it it disappears though the blue line still there!

i havent dropped it or sat on it-will have to get it fixed, am doing a course in sept and need me internet access!!

wonder how long it will take to fix?!

Some dell warranties are 12 months but the first 90 days they will pay for carrage for warranty work , after that its down to the customer
  • update- emailed them yesterday, they have emailed back to day it is still under warranty and that someone will come out and pick it up and the mointor will be replaced- must say i agree with poppyoliva- v impressed with their responses so far....
