I must say this has opened my eyes, I can't believe they actually sell these things.
I come from a time when valves were being replaced by transistors and everyone said how much better the new stuff was. Now the experts are saying valves are better! I installed a few Marantz set ups, 8 track with speakers that weighed a ton, the demo tape had a train going round the room that impressed the customers, most had only just got into real stereo!1 -
I was once very close to blowing a 5-figure sum on a brand new audiophile setup to go with a new house. A very wise pal told me to get my hearing checked out before splurging.
My current setup cost something shy of 500 quid 10 years ago and is still going strong.1 -
There are a lot of variables in wiring.Someone who claims a mains cable will improve the sound of your system without even knowing the particular equipment you have is talking through their hat.2

Someone who says a £2400 fuse will improve your sound system, even knowing every single thing about your system, is talking out of their hat.prowla said:There are a lot of variables in wiring.Someone who claims a mains cable will improve the sound of your system without even knowing the particular equipment you have is talking through their hat.4 -
Any blind tests for these products? Personally, I don't think that any of these products can perform as advertised. Too many variables including the sight and hearing of the user.
But, if someone believes then that's what matters, I guess.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I think it was intended to refer to the circuitry that does the processing, i.e. before it is digitised for sending via HDMI.wongataa said:
There is so much rubbish there. It is impossible for a power lead to affect picture or sound over a digital interconnect such as HDMI. You either get a perfect output or you get noticeable artefacts (or nothing). It cannot affect sharpness or colour saturation of the video output. That is a physical impossibility.Username03725 said:--snip--
But still ... snake oil IMHO

The thing I can't quite understand is how a beautiful hand-crafted 1 metre power lead from the wall to your box can possibly compensate for the half-mile of dodgy cabling between your house and the sub-station let alone the 50-year old iffy ring main in your house.2
