Wall insulation...

We have one "end wall" - its our only bedroom, in winter, despite having a 5ft single radiator (on the facing wall) the room is stone cold, the wall is cold to the touch, the landlord has made a token gesture of wall insulation into the wall (from the loft, which is lined) but this room is always 5 degrees colder than the lounge next to it so.....
what can i insulate the wall with? Its about 8ft high, 14 feet long and is obviously flat with just 2 240v sockets on it to work around.

cheers

Without the landlords consent, there isn't much you can do. Ideally, he needs to get the work done as it will improve the EPC rating and make it more appealing to renters in the future.

The most effective way of insulating the wall would be to add 50mm (if cavity construction) or 75mm (for solid wall) Celotex/Kingspan type insulation board. You can get insulated plasterboard that has a layer of PIR/PUR bonded to it. The sockets would need to be moved and you could never attach anything heavy to the wall. But once plastered, it would be easy to decorate and more importantly, warm. A cold wall attracts condensation, which makes it damp. A damp wall sucks heat out of a room, and you end up with a vicious cycle.

Cavities are usually sealed at the top of a wall and would be inaccessible from the loft. The LL might have put a bit more insulation down up there, but that isn't going to help with the cold wall.
