Hi I have a lodger who got paid weekly as from the 1st his firm now paying monthly.so he had to give me month upfront.however he has no money for food so I give him something untill he gets paid. He has a gf stay over 2 to 3 nights a week and I've noticed she also helps herself to my food .I've told him that when he gets paid he will have to give me extra£25 a week for food and iff his gf stays and eats that's a extra 15 a week does that sound greedy or should I lower it down a bit.i know it's not her place to eat at mine she's pregnant I don't want to deprive a pregnant woman off food

Tell him to go and stay at his girlfriend's house and raid her Mum's fridge, they are taking liberties with your good nature.£216 saved 24 October 20148

Does that really cover the cost of food? I would be careful about starting any hint of an 'all you can eat' for a fixed price!
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

You are a kind person. Maybe they misunderstood your kindness, or maybe they are chancers. Either way, the arrangement was only until your lodger gets paid. When he gets paid, then he can purchase his own food again for himself and his girlfriend. Food purchased by yourself shouldn't come into it. In the end, it will just end in tears if this isn't made clear now. Doesn't mean you need to stop being kind (and perhaps a little bit of a mug. In my world, it's ok to be a little bit of a mug sometimes but never a big mug!)

Yup. I had a pair that started taking liberties, including swigging my port. It didn't take long to kick them out (although there were other reasons). Now, I prefer to have single lodgers, no couples, and no overnight guests.youth_leader said: Tell him to go and stay at his girlfriend's house and raid her Mum's fridge, they are taking liberties with your good nature.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.3 -
Best to give him notice now.1

Are you ready for when the baby comes? Sounds like the GF might end up staying 24/7?Reggie65 said:He has a gf stay over 2 to 3 nights a week and I've noticed she also helps herself to my food
It boils down to how much money you want, £25 is too much for food, but if she is sleeping too, you should charge more depending on whether it's one/two/three people.5 -
Simples. He buys his own food.3

He eats at his girlfriend's house or she brings him food.
Hopefully all will be sorted in a week and a half.0 -

If he's receiving the same wages as before, then he's not got any less money per month, he's just got to budget so that he doesn't spend it all before the next payment is due.
He can still pay you weekly, if you are OK with that.
You are his landlord, not his bank manager or mother. No free lunch, and no free laptop
