My fixed energy plan ends soon, should I switch before price cap increase??

Switching isn't really an option for the time being - few suppliers want to take on new customers as they make a loss.
Whether or not you go for a fix is your choice - do your sums carefully - but it's a bit of a gamble. You don't have to take a fix - you could default onto the SVT.
Whatever you do be prepared for very big bills - these will be very noticeable if you are coming off a good fix.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
The question is less when, it is more if.
Does your current supplier offer fixed deals? You are in the 45 days before end of your fix, so most of them should let you keep your current rates to the end, and start on the 1st of October.
