Hi (my given name),

As you know your switch to Bulb didn't go ahead. We’re sending your refund payment of £90.95 using our secure money partner, Wise. We should’ve done this sooner, and we’re really sorry for the delay.

Wise will send you an email in the next few days asking for your bank details. And they’ll make the payment straight into your bank account.

There’s a link in their email that will expire after 7 days. So be sure to check your inbox for the email, and click the link before it expires. Find out more about getting a payment through Wise.

Thanks for your patience while we got this sorted, Team Bulb

18 Months ago I did try to swap from Total to bulb but was blocked by Total because they said I was under contract.  & no monies were paid,  so what do you think?

    Seems legit: https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/360027851232-Getting-payments-through-Wise-formerly-TransferWise-

Are you sure you didn't make a first payment to them? They definitely think you did!
  • It does look odd, but a check of the Bulb official help pages does seem to say that they use Wise to issue refunds to their customers.

Use the usual discretion of checking that the links go where you think they should, going via known good sites, etc.

Bulb is using Wise for payments, so it is not impossible.

Did you try to switch to Bulb?

    Edit
Just checked the link for the information you posted. It looks very suspicious.

    mandrillapp.com/track.....
  • mandrillapp is the tracking cookie site for emails generated using the mailchimp API (IIRC) - could be that Bulb use that backend

Mandrill is a service for transactional email. If anything, it makes it more legit to me as to sign up you have to do various account proofs etc, and they would quickly ban and disable any scams once reported, so scammers wouldn't tend to bother using it.

Clicking it takes you directly through to help.bulb.co.uk - it's just tracked so they can see you've opened it.

just checked my bank account statements, and think this may be a refund from my last address,  but as they had my bank details then why would they need them again?,unless they were delated after the failed transfer,? might give details of an account I have with only £1 in it to see what happens.

On a PC or Laptop, hover over the link and see what web address it's trying to open.  A random one = scam, delete email, not clicking the links.

You could contact Bulb via their online chat and ask them to confirm it's genuine.

And yes, using a 'spare' bank account makes sense.

You should only need to give them your sort code, account number and name. If they ask for any of your online banking details, or ask you to generate One TIme Passcodes (if your bank uses them), then run a mile!

Thanks to GDPR, suppliers can only use information you provide to them for the purpose it was provided and under the contract that was formed when it was provided, so when that contract ends they remove the details...
