Pets At Home repeat order price increase

I've been using repeat orders at Pets at Home for a while to get a small discount on the price of dog and cat food. The dog food I have on repeat suddenly went from £41.99 to a whopping £59.99! Fortunately for me, the card being used to pay didn't have sufficient funds so the attempt to take payment was declined. I contacted PAH and all they said was that they had to pass on their supplier price increases. That's fair enough but other suppliers I use were still charging £41.99 - including the actual manufacturer! Their terms for their repeat service is that they will charge the current web price - which may have gone up or down - but when it's such a huge increase surely they should have contacted me to say it was going to be an increase of 40%+?
In addition I did get an email in advance for me to confirm I still wanted to receive the repeat order, which stated the original price of £41.99. Surely they should have honoured the email showing the lower price, even if it did go up in price a couple of days later?

It's frustrating, but that's standard practice for similar things like online grocery deliveries. I can checkout a basket at 10pm this evening at £80, they scan those items through tomorrow morning and it's £100 and that's just how it is. As you said, it's in the terms.
I'd take this as a sign to stock up elsewhere, if you can. It could be a case of pets at home are the first to rise, but they all will soon enough.1 -

Note that I ended up with two bags from elsewhere @£41.99, as DPD managed to deliver the first order to the wrong address, so I ordered again and then the first order got traced to a nearby neighbour!!0
