Occupying Inherited Property Before Will Has Been Proved

We Inherited 50% of my parents house when my father passed.  The other 50% belongs to my mother (tenants in common) who had to move into a nursing home. Can we live at the property while we are waiting for proceedings to go through and save money on rent?

If your mother is happy with it, yes.

How is your mother's care funded ? It may be that it will be expected that you pay your mother a certain amount of rent for living in her portion of the property if she is not self-funding.

It's not yet been initiated.  They are still investigating her mental capacity and health needs.  I'm still waiting for the finance team to contact me.
