As Spies said you will need to be persistent in telling them it is a failed hinge and remind them of their duties under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to sell you something that isn't broken. If you are on twitter shame them on there for selling a laptop to you with a failed hinge. Dell UK and other Dell accounts are on there.

I've recently used Dells out of warranty support and paid 279 for replacement keyboard.
xps 2021.
Has OP asked for a Screen quote from Dell Support to consider options.
Their Support person visited my home within days, keyboard fitted 30 mins.
Excellent service which takes away temptation to go brand new again.

May be more than just a keyboard, on a MacBook for example a keyboard replacement also comes with a new top chassis and battery.0

Even with daily use, I'd expect a kb to last more than a year. It can't be long out of warranty. I thought Dell offered more than a year anyway?No free lunch, and no free laptop
