washing machine DIY disaster

Options
okay so the pump on the washing machine wasnt working.
had it before with an RM rubber band and low and behold it was the same this time.

now the washing machine is a 'mare to bring forward as the laminate flooring isnt fitted below the machine, kleaving a lip to traverse.
it means i have to pull the machine all the way out to access the hot/cold pipe mini stopc0cks.
well as i did that this time the cold (plastic) pipe sheared and i hadnt closed the main stopc0ck :o
after fighting through the spray and turning it off at the mains and drying up i wondered if i can use the machine with just a hot water feed?
just until tomorrow till i can get a replacement.

i also managed to slip and catch to the door that covers the washing machine :o shearing a little screw which screws onto the little baseplate on the machine front for the hinge.
are these fairly generic parts?

cars are my thing,im no home diy'er ;)

  • I'd be tempted to feed the Hot water feed into the cold pipe just to use for tonight - just don't wash 'sensitive' items tho' until u can get a fix.

    1) Fit a piece of hardboard or similar underneath the washing machine to allow it to slide over the laminate flooring in front of it.

    2) You probably could use the machine with just the HW feed but you will need to devise some way of feeding both H and C demands from the Hot Water feed. The best way of doing this is probably by way of a Y Connector at the HW supply end, connect both pipes to this then connect to the machine as normal.

    3) I suspect you'll be able to source the broken part from any half decent kitchen supplier - such as B and Q.

    4) Stick to cars :)

Why not just put the hot hose on the cold feed.... it will heat up the water to what it needs....
