Should I cancel my DD?

I wouldn't suggest avoid answering but definitely need to make people aware that it will be a very uneven split of cost between bills. As the OP has already said they weren't aware DD was a lower price the chances are that people aren't fully aware how much difference there could be between Jan and Jun bills if they're used to paying a single DD amount.wittynamegoeshere said:[Deleted User] said:I am not convinced that now is the time for people to be moving to a variable DD. For this to work, people need to keep a very close eye on their energy costs and be prepared for a very large energy bill to hit the doormat in January. I sense that some people are moving to variable DDs because they are in a state of denial about the increasing cost of energy. Are you suggesting that people should avoid answering the question because the outcome may be risky for some? That would be a weird kind of censorship.
7% seems like a low amount as discount but on £5000 that's £350 which would have been 30% of a bill last year!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
If you look at the thread you will see that everybody who mentioned variable direct debit also advised that there will be higher bills in winter and/or that budgeting is required.
What more do you expect?
How about a button "I agree that I am able to budget my finances and that I will put aside sufficient money to cover my energy bills" that once clicked will open the hidden answer "variable direct debit".
Please don't take above suggestion seriously, but while I agree that the variable direct debit might cause problems later for some, I also think that everybody has the right to get all available information, even if some might only read up low bills now, and fail to realise that it might cause issues later if they don't put the money aside now to cover for higher bills later.
