OPENING A SACRIFICIAL ACCOUNT. WHICH BANK?

You can't pay yourself e.g. into a current account by DD unless you set yourself up as a provider but there are plenty of easy ones, to be honest I would even suggest opening a sub prime credit card and put £5 on it every month - normal spending like a coffee say, as that will create another DDbinao said:Thanks for all your replys.
Is it OK then to have a DD to myself, CC, saving etc. Thought this was verboten.??
Don't do this if you have any major applications coming up like a mortgage though, but unused credit cards are a great source of DDs3 -
You can if you are fortunate enough to still have e.g. savings or investment accounts which allow DDs.Deleted_User said:

One does not simply just "set up a DD to myself". Most banks don't offer this facility, and the ones that do are generally legacy products that are no longer open to new applicants. There are a few options still available, such as using PayPal as discussed earlier, or Ecology BS, but for the most part you'll have an easier time just shuffling around legitimate bills (energy, water, council tax, DVLA, TV license, credit cards, etc). More options here here if you fancy digging through the thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5734632/savings-accounts-accepting-dds/p1binao said:Thanks for all your replys.

Outside of that, the banks won't know/care about where the DD actually goes to. If you manage to set up one to yourself then it will be just as valid for switching purposes as any other DD.1 -
If you are getting a switch bonus, a couple of quid to charities are a priceworth paying IMO. Make them 6-monthly or annual, so you have plenty of time to cancel them after you bagged your bonus. Or you might even want to let the DDs running, ready for the next switch. Mych easier than moving about actual DDs.1

I said you can't pay yourself into a current account by DD, if you read the post I quoted, they said "DD to myself, .. saving etc" therefore they already covered the fact they know you can pay by DD into savings accounts that allow it, I simply pointed out they cannot do a DD to themselvesDaliah said:

Metro Bank looks an easy choice. Visit branch with id, account opened while you are there, bank card printed while you wait.....ready to go.1

Make sure you have a credible story for why you want the account. “I need a donor account” probably wouldn’t go down too well 🤣🤣🤣🤣subjecttocontract said:Metro Bank looks an easy choice. Visit branch with id, account opened while you are there, bank card printed while you wait.....ready to go.1 -
If you haven't got a dog, borrow one.
Tell them they are the only local bank who are dog friendly......they'll love that.1 -

Thanks for all replies.
Started with an additional Lloyds classic as suggested by @WillPS
Maybe a Metro account next, as recommended by @subjecttocontract not sure which type of account as it has to be online, because I don't have a local branch.
Will Metro online be ok re. arranging DDs etc?
PS. No dog needed, as suggested above, as application will be online
Thanks
