NS&I log in fiasco

NS&I have "ugraded" their log in procedure and totaly broken it". OK two teir log in is safe but they have imposed a lunatic restriction. If you are in the habit of clearing your browser cache and deleting cookies it will come up you have reached the limit for devices, even if you only ever use one device to log on after seven (I think) log ins it locks you out. Other agencies use this but with no limit on the number of devices New Day card is one example. One review on Trust Pilot says they were told this is a problem for over 260,000 customers. You would think they would do somthing to fix this problem that was never there in the first place! Anyone else suffering from this incompetence?

If you got into your profile you can remove some of the instances of ‘authorised devices’ being used- and just leave the one you are currently using
this works for me - but I’m IOS0 -
Good tip, I'll try this once I can get back in to the account, probably have to deal with a snotty NS&I person first!0

Yes so even though I only have 2 devices - There was 4 instances of authorised devices in my profile for some reason
so you can edit the list of devices and delete 1 or 2 from the list
I will just keep it trimmed like this every time I log into my account0 -
You have to have reached a limit of seven devices before you aren't allowed to log on. However, three are apps and four are browsers. So, for example, if you log in using the same device and browser but clear your cookies regularly then on the fifth attempt to log in you will be blocked, even though you have only ever used one device and one browser.
I rang NS&I once to get all the devices removed, and now after I've logged in I delete the top "device(s)" from the list. You can't delete them all because the bottom one is the one you are using and if you delete that you get logged out immediately.
It's not very good at all. The NS&I woman I spoke to was helpful though and knew immediately what needed to be done as she had come across the issue a lot, and I only had to wait two or three minutes to speak to someone.2 -
How hard would it be to automatically replace the oldest device once the limit had been reached.

You got to seriously wonder about the professionalism of the persons who designed and implemented NS&I 2FA.0

I don't understand. Why not just allow (permit) cookies from NSI(which presumably avoids the grief) ?1

I phoned and the call handler was very helpful and said since they had the new verification system in that's what all the calls were about
I had logged in, had the onetime code, ticked what I had to without issue.
Two days later logged in and received an error message to say my device needed to be verified and as I hadnt used it for a longtime I needed to phone. It was the same device from two days ago.
The advice was it would be looked at and try again in 48 hours, I did and it worked.0 -

Select the option 'clear all cookies when I close the browser' - also clear browsing history etc if you want
Add NS&I cookies to 'exceptions'
Every time you close your browser all cookies, browsing history etc is cleared apart from exceptions.3
