InvestEngine. Be prepared to give away your entire identity to sign up. It is not an easy process

Just to try this product I was happy to invest £100 as part of this promotion. I started the ID verification process. They want your photo, passport picture, every financial detail.

I terminated the signup. Not happy with this one.

Regards.

Not for me. They verified my identity electronically and didn't require anything onerous from me.

Seems to be the trend, so may have to get used to it.  Chase is much the same, selfie and pic of passport or driving licence required.

There was a lot of kickback against ID-cards a while back, but effectively, that is what a passport has become, with those without either a DL or passport likely to have problems.   Oldies with a bus-pass are long used to proving their identity with a photo-card every time they get on a bus.

Just signed up with a employment agency, images required for passport (out of date is fine) driving license (both sides) and proof of address. The banks tend to be more fussy with images taken of ID, maybe fun and games , but pain in the wosit.

Far easier to obtain a £50K bounce back 'loan' than opening an investment account to put £100 into. If only HMRC were as rigorous when giving away our money!

I think your post should have been under 'praise and vents' but people have already commented now so, oh well!

Most banks/financial institutions require similar information these days -  your photo, passport picture, every financial detail. I just think it's the way things are going in the 21st century, with most companies wanting to verify everyone's identity in that way. I'd do it, if and when necessary. It's natural to be wary but this seems to be the way forward.

Seems fairly relevant to the investment board, not sure if it's already been moved

Short of a bus driver with a photographic memory, that’s quite a few stops from spreading it via the internet. Oh, to be old.

It's also not the case in my experience, I have never been asked to show my photo-card pass, I just use it on the contactless reader.

To be fair, we live in the most surveilled country on Earth. Banking intrusion is only going to get more intrusive. Photo, voiceprint, fingerprint, eyeprint, all major biometrics. Privacy is gone, forever.

That's hardly being fair. Which bank has asked you for your fingerprint or eyeprint? Is DNA a major biometric, and has any bank asked you for that?
