probate granted 15 minutes after official complaint!

As an update in case anyone else is wondering about timescales: I got an email last week saying probate had granted and would arrive within 10 days (presumably working days)
I submitted my application on 14th April, so 20 weeks in total.
I await the paperwork and hope for no delay in it arriving.
As a word of advice; if at any stage you’re told there’s a delay at the HMRC end, ring them directly. They’re very much more helpful than the probate office, which seems to be simply a call centre.
If I’d been advised by probate to do this when they first raised a query, then I probably would have waited about 6 weeks less than I did.

Great to hear this has finally been completed. Hopefully you can begin to get some closure now. 

Regarding the HMRC contact, how long did you have to wait to contact them? the number we have suggests 20 working days I believe.
