British Gas debt written off, could apply to other companies too. Possible money saving to be had!

I owed BG money for a meter error that they made when tenants moved out but they didnt have a simple way to sort it out. I got a letter from LCS , a debt recovery firm, and paid it straight away as I definitely owed BG the money. As LCS systems were rubbish ( they didnt apply my payment to the debt) they sent me a second letter for the ( no longer) outstanding amount, then a third letter saying that I could  pay with 30% discount and and the matter would be over. Then a fourth letter offering to accept half  the amount outstanding, no charges no hassle nothing else to do. So I recommend that you sit back and wait a couple or three letters. My debt was only £90 so I have no idea whether it is because they cant be that bothered with small sums or whether it is their protocol across the board. I also don't know whether it is the same protocol for other companies that use LCS.  
Don't bother to ever contact LCS by telephone, their system is appallingly useless. They are very good by email though. Happy money saving.
