SSE renewal offer - Wait for another week or renew now?

This is the below rate offered by SSE for my renewal -

Gas -
Unit rate17.5p
Standing charge27.53p

Electricity - Unit rate 61.22p, Standing charge 50.28p

This seems almost same as predicted price cap to be announced next week. Insane increase.

Should i stick to variable in September and then switch to fixed?

That fixed tariff is unlikely to last a week, I fear. You have a 14 day cooling off period to revert to the SVR, usually.

I was offered something slightly less then this from SSE a couple of weeks ago and decided to stick on the SVR as the offer on unit costs was very close double what I am paying now on the SVR.  Similarly thought then any fixed deals are likely to represent the price cap.

Its higher than the Cornwall Insight prediction s on OCT 1 which are 14.51 gas , 46.49 electric .
.January predic tions are 15.74 gas and 50.23 electric
April - 16.29 gas and 51.88 then starts to lower next 3 months
Its higher than SVT so I would not go for that fix ..Standing charges are more or less the same

I think you are using old data here. That is last weeks prediction.

Gulp ! 17.23 p gas in January ! and 18.78 April ..wow... and the electric is equally as bad. Are these rates incl VAT ?

I ve been updating a few friends of what to expect on those old rates for their monthly direct debits based on their annual past usage .
I d better send them another update. or maybe better to wait till Aug 26 for Oct 1 st

Lets all hope the Oligarchs help to get Putin "removed " and gas is being given away again .It could happen this week !

If i go with this prediction, what i am offered by SSE is still higher. Might just wait another week then and save a month of money on price cap.
