Smart meter, overestimated bill
When my smart meter was installed I hadn't realised the gas part wasn't working. I came back from holiday and discovered I was being estimated for gas use when I hadn't been home. When I put in a manual reading (17) it would not recognise it because the reading from my old meter was in the thousands. Although my smart meter is now working for gas and electric, I still have two months of overestimated bills (roughly £180 over) and I can't seem to get this over to the company.
Can anyone advise me on what to do?

I think what you are saying is that the supplier is billing you against your old analogue meter. When a smart is installed, the supplier takes a number of actions which includes raising a final bill for the meter that has been removed. The installer should have provided the supplier with a final reading. The supplier then removes the old meter from the database, and adds the new meter serial to it. The supplier can then renew your account, and bill using readings from the smart meter.
Action: take a photograph of your gas meter which shows both the meter serial number and the index reading. Send this photograph to your supplier. Attached to the meter there should be a label which shows the final reading for the old meter. Send a photograph of this as well. Only your supplier can update the National Database.0 -
Did you take a photo of the old meter before it was removed?
There should be labels with the old meter final reads on the new meters. Are they correct?0 -

Only your supplier can update the National Database. And check the units you are being billed for.If you had an old imperial meter reading in (100s) cubic feet, and they are still billing you using those units, you are paying 2.83 times more than you need to. Smart meters are all metric and will give a reading of Cubic Metres.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
