Getting Solar Pannel

Hi I am looking for a getting solar pannels.
I have obtained quote from project solar - costing £24000- 13 panels Evolution 600, inverter and 16kw storage possibly fox
local compant- costing 16000- 14 panels JA panels, inverter and 15kw battery from susynk

Any recommendation for which one is best on market, what to get as best of battery and inverter for 3300 annual usage

  • Did you ask for a battery that size? It seems a lot of battery considering your usage?

Hi, Yes as i am thinking to future proof so usage will go higher and as i am getting it as a package will be no VAT
  • Others will be able to better advise you on production/consumption/battery balance. What’s the total output of the panels for each of their quotes? £24k is surely trying it on- I was quoted £15.7k for 10x 420W Sunpower Max 6 with inbuilt Enphase inverters and 16.8kWh of Givenergy batteries

For Project Solar- it was 4500 output
Local one- it was 5700 output but he didn't consider deducting % of efficiency and simply multiplier 14*410
My concern is which is the best panels out there to go for and the inverter/battery system to tied in grid

What size inverters do those quotes include? And are the batteries AC or DC connected. Both those things will effect how much you can use / sell.

15kWhrs batteries feels very over sized for 3300 kWhrs annual consumption. It seems a lot of future proofing and I can't help wonder whether it is worth it.

I have no idea how easy it is to add storage capacity to an existing battery system, but feel that technologies like Vehicle to grid might prove a more cost effective future upgrade than future proofing now.

    HI
I think batteries will be AC connected as DC goes to the inverter first and then to the battery as per the drawing explanation.
I am also planning to use cheap grid to store power at night and use it during the day

£24,000 is ridiculously overpriced. Project Solar have a reputation for uncompetitive quotes.

You don't really need to worry so much about what the "best" make of panels or inverters are. My inverter is a Solis which are very widespread and their reliability is fine. Many people buy Chinese-made panels and have no problems with them. If you want to pay more and get better monitoring and fault-finding facilities, you could look at SolarEdge optimisers.

If you really want the "best" and since apparently you are willing to spend so much money, you should be looking at a Tesla Powerwall maybe with Tesla panels as well.

    Hi,

    Thank you.
Panels are priced in both quotes at around 10000
its battery cost which is 13000 from project solar lasting 6000 cycle warranty (haven't been told what brand but i think its fox )and 6000 from local one but not sure on warranty of Sunsynk.
Tesla Powerwall 13.6 is around 9000 so makes me think price is justifiable from project solar
  • Sunpower Maxeon are generally considered the best panels, with the highest efficiency, lowest degradation over time, and longest warranty.

    They are quite spendy though
