Chase app update?

When I try to open the app, I get the message:
This version is no longer supported.
This surprised me as I thought apps updated themselves.
Has my phone been hacked, or is this valid?
If valid, what is the best way of updating - hit the Update button on the error screen, or some other way?
In posts on this forum, I have seen complaints about updating, but not the message that I got.

I've been using the app on and off all day and it's been ok. I know it sounds a dreadful cliche, but have you restarted your phone or cleared all the open pages? I find that helps me if the app plays up (android)0

It's not an error condition. It's either been hacked, or needs to be updated in some way.veggieblob said:I've been using the app on and off all day and it's been ok. The Play Store updates apps if you have it set to do so, but I've often opened it to find updates waiting. Check there.

A quick way of checking whether an Android app needs updating is to look it up in the Google Play store. It'll give you an 'Update' option if there's an update available or it'll say 'Uninstall / Open' if there isn't. The last update for the Android Chase UK app in the Play store was the 29th July.
I've got apps set to auto-update on my phone, but it can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. To check if updates are due, the other way is to open the Play store, click on your profile, select 'Manage apps and device' and available updates will all be listed in the 'Updates available' section. That's for Android 10 but other versions should be similar.1 -
I’m on ios, sometimes it says you need to update.
Even when I check for updates it will not show.
You have to go into the App Store to the app, there it says update.0 -
I went to the Google Play Store and there was an Update button for the Chase app.
So I updated and after I opened the app, a message flashed up. It was something like:
Google Play services error
Please do the action required by Chase.
But there was no action that I could see.
I suppose this was why it didn't auto-update.
I went to Settings>Apps and Notifications but couldn't see any setting for auto-update (though all my other apps have done so).
