My advice: write out your complaint and ask for an independent opinion from a Citizens’ Advice energy adviser before you submit it.
    This is good advice...
I did not have credit built up. I was in debit from 2021 and in July this year before this happened I was in debit by £50.
I was expecting to reduce the debit by increasing my direct debit from 2021.

It is hard for us to give you much direction without seeing all the details and tracking the balance on your account, so getting a CAB advisor to check it over may help.
The problem is that if you did increase your DD with the intention of reducing the amount owed, the supplier is entitled to use this to cover the additional amounts they were billing, before applying the remainder to debt reduction, so you need to be able to show that in the period older than 12 months before the error correction, the effect of the change was to increase your debt, and it is only the extent to which the debt was increased that is something you can claim... if the amount they already gave you as a credit exceeds this then there is nothing more to claim...
Don't just look at where you ended up now, you have to look at the running balance in the months before the 12 month window.

  • I got deadlock letter from them.
I used resolver platform to complain and then sent the ombudsman the full history of messages. I included bills from the period's that they re billing me for. Overall it's 180 extra.
