Synology Nas and Synology Photos

Having an issue with syncing my NAS.
I can set up the drive client and have 2 way sync with no problems. Specifically, I have a folder called “Photographs” where I store all my photographs and it syncs perfectly with its mirror location on the NAS.
I can set up synology photos and drop my photos into the appropriate folder and they all appear in Synology photos. I can access on my phone too. Works a treat.
But here's the problem…..If I change my directory structure in my photos folder (which is synced via drive client) it's copied on my NAS, but not reflected in Synology photos. That means I have to manually move/delete/re-upload photos to the appropriate folder for synology photos to re-sync and reflect the changes made in my photos folder. Doing this manually is twice the work for me, takes more time for the NAS to process info twice and could easily lead to photos being missed or not synced.
What I'm looking for is either
1 – Synology drive client can be set up to sync home/photos so that synology photos is updated live as I make changes. I could then move my“photos” folder and sub folders to that location and that would allow live syncing
Or
2 – synology photos to use a different source folder so I can set it to sync with the appropriate location on my laptop. When I set up drive client I cannot select /home/photos. Home/movies and home/music are both visible…..but not home/photos. It looks like a permission issue but I cannot figure it outAnd I can't find any way of changing the default location for synology photos.

Synology Photos keeps a database of all photos, when you move them to a different folder it has no idea this has happened until you force a recan.
When you do a rescan, anything that is no longer in the folder it was previously is considered deleted. Anything that turns up in a new folder is considered a new photo - even if it is exactly the same one in a new location.
So you have two main choices:
1. Don't change your folder structure - just add to it. Reasonably normal to do this in such systems, pick a folder structure and stick with it.
2. Force a rescan each time you change the folder locations but you will need to allow time for Synology photos to rescan and carry out the processing such as recognition and auto categorising.
Clearly, 1 is the best option - don't work against the tech, work with it.
You might say, well that's the way I do things, but think of it from the point of view of the Synology Photo app and most users, just because a file called photo1.jpg disappears from a folder called "holiday" and turns up in a new folder called "seaside" it can't assume it is exactly the same photo, it would be terrible for most users if it did that so it needs to assume the photo in the old folder is deleted and the new location is a new photo - because that is exactly how most users will use it.
