well, just been experimenting and made my 3rd batch now. found better chocolate this time, its much better than the cheap tesco chocolate I bought first. This is from tesco too, but its their belgian chocolate, currently 2 bars for £1.40. I tried the plain on Thursday, really nice, and just melted the white chocolate. It melts a lot better than I expected, I expected it to go all grainy but it was very very smooth. Melted Dairy Milk to go with it, not sure I melted it enough though, it was starting to set in the bowl.
Got 2 heart trays and 1 cube tray now in the fridge. Theyve got a mixture of plain, hundreds and thousands, whole hazelnuts, swirly, marshmallows, rice crispies and 2 layers! Cant wait to see how they turn out!! I will of course post pics!!
To expand my chocolate making empire(!!) even further :rotfl: , I am awaiting the arrival of 1 winnie the pooh tray, 1 tigger tray and 1 star shape tray, along with a chocolate bar mould (for xmas, it was in the sale) and 2 chocolate bottles to see if it makes it any easier, especially as I am going to be making a lot to sell for Sport Relief! You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
moosetastic, those sound scrumptious! Looking forward to seeing the pics!
Its my birthday on Tuesday and I've decided I'm gonna make MYSELF some chocolate treats tomorrow. I might let the kids help me as its a teacher training day, but that always means a mammoth cleaning up operation afterwards!
I shall try and put some more piccies on too - if my kids (or I!) don't eat them first!...I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Phew! Well me and my boys have had a busy day in the kitchen today and some of the time we made choccies.
Quite a while was spent making these biscuits for my hubby who asked us to make some for him to take to work for his workmates!
(Click for larger image)
Then the boys used icing pens and food colouring on rice paper to make these for me (aah!):
(Click pics to enlarge)
and then we made these chocolate hearts:
with 'M-U-M-M-Y' letters on 'em
The boys loved doing it (even though writing isn't their strong point!) and it made a good life lesson - saving money by making your own presents!

I haven't made the chocs yet as I'm on a diet and can't resist temptation. I will be making all my Easter gifts this year though. I'm buying some moulds from Sugarshack, they've got some great lollipop ones and think I'm going to get some candy melts to put some colour in them.
I've not used their moulds before but bought loads of cake decorating stuff from them.:smileyhea0 -
I am thinking of making Easter eggs/bunnies this year and was wondering where people are getting their moulds from?saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

well, here we go, some of them didnt turn out as expected, but they are ok. The hazelnuts didnt get covered as much as I had hoped, might have to drop them in rather than put chocolate on top of them in the mould.
got the go ahead to sell my wares at work for Sport Relief so they will all get these as free samples tomorrow!!! :rotfl:You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

I haven't been online for a while and its great to see this thread still going strong.
Easter is going to be an ideal time for making choccy goodies. I'm going to be up in Manchester for a month over Easter so wont get a chance to make any goodies but I am going to make some choccies for my mum for mothers day.
And yes Lou, I will post some pics
I'm going to show my daughter tomorrow how much she inspired everyone to make choccies.
It will make her do this >and maybe even this >
And then I'll do this >and it might encourage her to make me some too
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0
