No Longer allowed to switch Energy Companies or have a prepaid meter removed due to the price cap?

If you have a good credit history always paid bills on time then put in a complaint then after 8 weeks go to the ombudsman. E-on possibly want as much money as possible from their customers so don't want to switch the meter to a credit meter as they make between £30 and £50 more from each customer on prepayment meters.DAWNG_3 said:I have recently moved into a new property, it has a prepaid meter and is with E-on, i have requested that this is changed to a Credit meter but have been told that due to the price cap they are not changing these out and i can "register my Interest" for the the future.
I don't have a good past with E-ON after issues resolving my dads account after he passed away - it became one of the most stressful elements of sorting his estate so decided i would switch to British Gas or any other energy company only to be told they cannot switch over from another supplier because of the price cap? Is this correct anyone else had this issue, surely in a competitive market place you should be able to switch and not be held to using one supplier.
I had a similar problem with BG back in 2011 when the ex died and the council wanted my son to move out so as my name was still on the lease I moved in and when I tried to get the prepayment meters changed they said I was responsible for the debt on the meters. I didn't go through a complaint and ombudsman I issued them a notice before action email to the CEO and they changed the meters within a week. The £4000 debt was wiped because it occurred after the divorceSomeone please tell me what money is0
