I downloaded a proof of debt letter, sent it to resoovecall they have now responded saying “unfortunately it has come to our attention that there are certain websites purporting to provide information which will allow users to avoid repayment or discussion of debts. It appears to be a letter of dispute but simply lists the regulations around disputed debt and does not explain why you are specifically disputing this debt.
I believe it was quite clear on the letter that I did not recognise the debt and therefore require proof!!
Any ideas on next steps would be gratefully received

Which site did you use, what was the letter you sent?
A simple Prove It letter can be had from debt charities, though it's worth following a guide from a helpful site like this one from Debt Camel
If you're denying the debt then do check if it's not better to use statute barred letters if that applies.1 -
Farfetch I sent them a letter downloaded from moneyadviceonline unfortunately I can’t post a link just yet as I’m a newbie 😃
it says pretty much the same thing?1 -

The letter (linked here) is very clearly not the same and the number of references to legislation are why you got the response.
Use the letter from a reputable site like Debt Camel and keep it simple denying the debt1 -

It does risibly refer to "continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment", which instantly loses credibility, so, yes, there will be plenty of better templates available!1 -
thanks all, I will send a better letter, I thought they all were similar, this debt has never been on my credit report which I have monitored closely over the past 8 years in order to get a mortgage!0

As far fetch says, its best to keep things simple, and not quote from old, irrelevant or out of date legislation.

"I do not recognise the debt you have written to me about, please provide me with evidence of my liability for it within 28 days" thank you.
