    I have helped people claim under Special Rules for as many as three times (sadly that is of course unusual).
    Using the wording above "would not be surprised" is open to ambiguity perhaps rather than a definite assessment. 
    Exactly so, it allows a clinician to use their judgement. If only say 5 out of 100 die in the circumstances you can take the view atet you wouldn't expect a particular person to die within 6 months but you wouldn't be surprise if they did (because it happens). Some clinicians will be more flexible, others will be less so.
    Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • So, I've asked the neuro oncology nurse and she said as it has been confirmed as a Grade 3 astrocytoma so they can't provide a DS1500.

    However, a generic letter in support they can provide however as the advisor said it's probably standard rather than the power a DS1500 has.

    SR1, he confirmed, is useful to have for a UC as advised previously in this thread.

    No harm in seeing if the GP can supply the DS1500, if not will apply as normal and hope the SR1 can help at least with applying for UC.
