how much gold...

Comments

  • This question prompted me to weigh my wedding ring, seek out the current price of gold per gram, multiply by the mass in grams, convert from $ to £, divide by my total portfolio value and multiply by 100 to come up with a figure of ~ 0.05%

Then I remembered the sodding thing is platinum, not white gold. So ~ 0.00%

As much as I can get provided the price I pay is significantly less than its value. I've done quite well on buying gold coins over the last few years. I don't suppose my response is helpful for you in any way but we are all different.
I'm curious, where are you buying these gold coins?

One gold sovereign per year. More because I like looking at them than anything else.

    Less than 1%

I have a precious metals ETF, which is mainly gold ( but also silver, palladium and platinum) and bought about a year ago as a way of diversifying away from/reducing bonds %. As of today is 14% up.
Including gold in WP funds, probably accounts for approx 3% of my portfolio.
