NatWest CC and paying via DD in app

in Credit cards
I thought I was being prudent and set up a few weeks ago (22 July) a DD for £100 per month (to pay off my NatWest credit card which I recently used (0% offer) for a holiday.
I set the date to pay off as 15th every month, as that is the date for the min payment, DD shows setup in iOS app fine.
Come today and I had a snotty text saying I have missed the min payment (£5), I checked the app and it shows the DD setup fine but nothing coming out to pay off the card.
I called them up (got through very fast which was nice) and was told (after they put me on hold for 11 mins to check) because its setup in the app, the payment will only go through next month and not this month!
Nowhere is that shown on the app or made clear, am I now going to have a mark on my rating and be charged £12? (they couldn't say)

Possibly.
There wouldn't have been enough time for them to put the DD in place, as it needs to reflected on the statement and the required notice given. It's not because it was set up via the app. Always make manual payments until the statement says that it will be taken by DD.
A single missed payment won't be a major issue, but you could always phone up and beg for some goodwill to see if they will refund the late payment fee if necessary.

I would ring them back and lodge a complaint that there was insufficient information on the app when you were setting it up to advise of the delay. Obviously if you had known you would have ensured a payment was set up for the correct time. Tell them you have been financially disadvantaged due to their poor communications. This will likely get your £12 back (& maybe more).
Also check at the same time that you haven't lost the 0% deal as that is normally what would happen if you don't make the minimum payments on time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I’d be more concerned about the loss of the 0% promotional rate at this stage, a missed / late payment will almost certainly void the promotional rate and reinstate their ridiculously high APR.If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
