Free Royal Mail Collections

Royal Mail are offering free collections until the end of 2022 at

https://send.royalmail.com/

The flow is a bit poor as it automatically adds the collection, if you don't want the collection you can delete it from the basket.

Just to add IIRC there was a limit of 5 parcels collected per day, not sure if they have this limit in place. They'll also email a collection confirmation which works as COP plus collection can be from a safe place if you aren't home.

Thank you for the information. But are they still planning strikes? It's a bit like they are giving with one hand and removing with the other. . .  I have used their collection service before though and it's been excellent.

Unless they agree something strikes will probably go ahead sadly, with Royal Mail it's typically advisable not to post the day or two before the strike but nor the day or two after as mail that is already delayed isn't a priority and seems to end up being very delayed when they are overwhelmed.

Why would you conflate the two?
The push to collections is a continue to change the entire business.
Eg the recent slash of CSP hours.
RM controls the current dispute given it is they who isnt moving on their plans.
One ironic move saw them have fleets of hire vans in every DO the day after the ballot announcement.(for strike days)
This from a company who so poorly planned Christmas 2021 they had managers hiring vans with their own credit cards.

  • There are comments about the strikes, even 6 months ago they failed to collect. Twice I found that problem & had to return parcels myself. Make a claim to receive a refund. Royal Mail are almost as untrustworthy as some of the courier firms are.

I think this is probably true. I get a lot of deliveries and the damage rate/missed delivery dates by Royal Mail is probably as high as any other courier but for some reason I excuse them and see them differently. I guess they get pardoned a lot for their mistakes because they are a British institution whereas courier companies are often seen as exploitive companies.

Once in basket there will be two items, the collection & thing you are sending.
Both have a green edit & red remove option.
So just remove the collection leaving thing you are sending in basket.
