Switching to new F/D offer £175 when you already have an account pre 2019

Hi I already have a First Direct account opened in 2013 and the new offer for switching states I can qualify for the offer if it was more than 3yrs ago I opened the account . I have also read I don’t need any DDs in the account I’m switching But is there any length of time or numbers of transactions I need in the account I’m switching to FD ?

The exception applies to HSBC current accounts, not First Direct ones, and not to HSBC Group ones. If you ever held any First Direct account, you are not eligible, I‘m afraid. Not even if you never got a switch or joining bonus
ftom FD before.1 -
Thank you 🙏🏻 for replying I went back and re read the MSE narrative. It was a lot clearer than the FD one .0

Doesn't really matter what MSE says, since it is First Direct who pay the bonus. Their terms should be the first thing you read, rather than relying on the paraphrasing provided by MSE. But as is pointed out above, FD typically exclude anyone who has ever held a FD account before from their switch incentives.LottieLu said:Thank you 🙏🏻 for replying I went back and re read the MSE narrative. To answer your other questions - there's no restrictions on the donor account. It could have been open for a day or for 10 years. No requirements for any transaction history or DDs on the donor account, you just need to transfer in £1000 (you can immediately withdraw it again if you want) and meet the rest of the offer terms.2 -
really hate to jump in to someone else's thread but looks like their question is answered and i can't believe i can't find a chat thread specifically about this switch incentive.
anyhoo....how very old fashioned that the switch has to be initiated after account opening is complete AND over the telephone. this would be my OH's account and she's not happy doing this stuff on the phone. is the switch telephone call seemless and quick? no hard sell etc?
thank you.0 -
That's interesting. I switched to FD a few years ago and everything was done online.pfpf said:really hate to jump in to someone else's thread but looks like their question is answered and i can't believe i can't find a chat thread specifically about this switch incentive.

I had a FD account back in 2015, never used it and it ended up being closed around 9 months later. If I applied now how far back do they look for the "never had an account before" clause?

You can choose to do it as part of the joining process.. I thought I’d have to call so I messaged to ask (as I hate those calls too) they said if I’d already done it when I joined online I don’t need to call0

well, account was opened and there was the option to start the switch online after all. so all is progressing so far with no telephone call needed.Rudyson said:
