Tesco Issued 2 New Cards

Received my replacement Tesco credit card this morning.  Mind in neutral took the one with my name off the paper then gave MrsM the other one to sign.  "This is yours" she said.  Checked and both are in my name. Double checked her cards and she is not a second user on that card so they have issued 2 identical cards in my name.  Certainly a first to me.

I've had this happen with Natwest - only they delivered a total of 4 cards - two for each cardholder. There was a slight difference between them which allowed CS to advise which ones were the ones to be used.
I imagine this a querk of the backend system used by Natwest Group (which Tesco still use a seperate implementation of from their time as an RBS JV).

Do both cards have same number?

Could be worse....I, as card holder asked that they provide a my husband with an associated card so he could also use the account.  What they did was reissue my card as well as give him one.  But instead of mine being Ms Brie they changed my whole account to Mrs HisName.  And they didn't seem to understand that just because I had married didn't mean I'd changed my name.

I think "identical" in my OP covers that point :)

In relation to the comment "Remember a CC only has one account holder", that is absolutely correct.  You can authorise a second cardholder on the account, but the account belongs to you and you alone.  The additional cardholder is not responsible in any way for the running/payment of the account.  If the additional cardholder were to run up a massive bill which you couldn't afford to pay, that's tough, it's still you who has to pay it, and it's your credit history that would suffer if you didn't/couldn't pay it.

    Never assume anything 👍

You are the account holder. As such you are liable for Mrs M's spend. She is not 👀
There is no such thing as a joint Credit Card account.

But of what relevance is any of this to the OP?

Some people think a Credit Card account is just like a bank account.
So if you have 2 cards on a CC they think it is a joint account.
