Our DD is due to increase to £374 at the end of September, we are on the Welcome tariff with EDF, the DD is based on £350 estimated use and £24 to go towards the £495 we're in debit, we've made an effort to cut our usage in the last few weeks (and will continue to do so) we're well insulated and have a new boiler etc, EDF are offering a Standard Variable rate at an estimated £316 per month, would this be worth switching to, only a small saving I know but at least it's something, I'm hoping our attempt at lower usage reflects in our next meter readings.

Remember that the SVR "quote" will be based on the current capped rates ,predicted to rise considerably in October -unless you believe that the Tories will adopt the nonsensical idea currently doing the rounds, of freezing the cap for everyone by mortgaging the state up to and beyond the hilt!!1

The "welcome" tariffs were those offered to people who'd been moved to EDF as part of the SOLR process, I think? If so, then my understanding was that they were already at the SVR?
Do you have any savings that you might be able to use to clear the debt so at least you're starting afresh with a zero balance - then you can potentially look at trying to build at least a bit of a cushion of credit before the colder weather.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

No I'd really like to be able to pay off the debit but don't have the money available sadly.EssexHebridean said:The "welcome" tariffs were those offered to people who'd been moved to EDF as part of the SOLR process, I think? If so, then my understanding was that they were already at the SVR?
