Should a standard mirror will prepared by a paralegal be cheaper than one prepared by a solicitor?,….and what would be typical fees for both?

In practice many wills are prepared by a paralegal and then checked by a solicitor, so the cost difference is often minimal unless very specialist advice is needed.
Costs vary enormously depending on complexity (hence there are no really'typical' fees), so ring round and get some quotes.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
If you want cheap costs, be prepared for errors if the Wills are not signed off by the solicitors firm. That is what you pay for. If a solicitors practice draw up Wills, then they accept responsibility for their accuracy, but do discuss the Wills completely as sometimes people do not give clear instructions and this can lead to problems.
Whatever you do, do it in writing and keep copies with the Wills in case of error. This also applies to Will Writing firms, who may still be in business for years, but may also cease trading before you die. A solicitors practice has to pas on the responsibility to the next practice if they close up, but this does not apply to other will writing firms. Be careful.I'm a retired IFA who specialised for many years in Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts. I cannot offer advice now, but my comments here and on Legal Beagles as Sam101 are just meant to be helpful. Do ask questions from the Members who are here to help.4 -

We went round the houses with wills and lost around £200 dealing with a couple of "middlemen" - that's the best way to refer ot them. Where possible, deal with a legal practice!0
