Gas Safety Check
Hi,
Recently completed on a property that has gas supplied by BG on a prepayment meter. I had an appointment last week to change it to a credit meter but when the engineer arrived, he said he could not do the job due to there being no cap on the gas pipe that should go into the boiler (the property had no boiler when we purchased it). Annoying as it is, it’s perfectly understandable.

Pipe is now capped, however when I call back to get an appointment, BG are now saying that I need a gas safety check which is not an issue, but apparently they have no one available to do that at this time and no idea when that will change.
I asked if I could get someone approved to carry this out and they said no, it had to be them - is this true?
Thanks.

Any RGI can supply a GSC, if that's what they want. They don't need to be a BG contractor. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for your replies.
Turns out that I was given the incorrect information. After raising the issue with a manager, they have agreed to book me an appointment to change the meter.1
